Team,
Just wanted to share some pics I took this weekend. I need some practice taking pictures, because I'm no pro by any means and I needed to snap a few to update the sig, so I figured I'd share 'em. Here are the mods I'm showcasing: 1) shadowline trim (frank - bmw motorwerks) 2) smoked led sidemarkers (nerweezy - trinity) 3) VMR VB-3 Hyperblack 19's(nerweezy - trinity) 4) matte black badge and black roundel overlay(bimmian) 5) X3 black chrome tips (ebay) - these just fit over the OEMs - cheap interim solution 6) matte black grill (nerweezy - trinity) I do have an xi and it did not come with the sport pkg, so I have 2 things going against me suspension-wise. So I do recogize the fact I need a drop, and from an enthusiasts perspective, I need one badly. But, rest assured, I won't be doing that anytime soon. One, cost is just not practical for me, and two, I actually think the suspension helped with the impact of the 19's. It rides exceptionally well considering the change from 17s to 19s. Perhaps some day I may change my mind on this, because it does bother me day in and day out. Again, nothing shocking here, it was just a sunny day, and a fresh car wash. Have a great week. lookin' good....so which kit are you getting? :P

Great looking ride!
Wheels' color match very well on the car's body color! |
The hyperblack is a great color, it goes well with the shadowline trims and smoked led side marker. I love the X3 black tips and need to find one of these for myself.
|
+1 ... yeah what's the ebay link??

So here is the ebay link. I made an error on my original post! The tips are OEM for the X5 rather then the X3 like I mentioned. Please make sure you research your specific model because these tips just happen to fit over the OEM <OVAL> tips I have. If you have a 535 or 545, chances are these will not fit. Also, before pulling the trigger on ebay, I suggest giving Frank Jershe a shout and seeing if he can do better. He offers e60.net members 25% off OEM parts. He most likely will ship quicker/cheaper as he is shipping from the midwest. OEM p/n: 18 10 7 503 584 FJershe@penskeautomotive.com 952-886-6326 |

Nice mods. The black 5 badge really works well, nice contrast (unlike my black badge on black paint job which by my calculations would be 0% contrast ). Loving the black tips, gotta get myself some of those. Oh no, you've put me in a modding mood. Crap. I said I wouldn't.

:coolpics: Nice mods.
|
Very nice indeed :D
|
Nice pix. I like the black exhaust tip. It matches the wheels (Cap't Obvious here :D )

Thank you for the compliment....on the kit...NOT SURE  So many people are going with the Uminitza M5 kit, I just don't know. I am most likely going to start with a front lip rather then a full kit. I am actually considering an ACS lip. Not many have this here. I also very much like the M5 lip. The M5 would be about 2x the cost I suspect. What would you suggest?
BTW the car looks awesome - I've always considered your ride one of the best-put together rides on this forum, so thanks for the pics  |
Your car looks great!!

nicely put together

Sorry to butt in, but I think you should embrace the pre-LCI'ishness of your ride and not go for the M5 or M-tech replica, like just about everyone else these days.

To your comment on the lip....not only are you not butting in, but I specifically asked for your opinion, so thanks! It's not that I don't like the m5 lip, because it is amazing and I hope all those who choose it, love it regardless of the forum popularity. I'm not sure about SoCal, but here in Chicago, and particularly the suburbs of Chicago, you just don't see many modded e60's. So I wouldn't personally take the forums popularity into account when making this decision. I think no matter what you do for mods, you will always be challenged here on e60.net to be unique! For me, I really like the ACS lip and it's about 50% of the total cost (painted) then other options. So that is the way I'm leaning. :D I have baby #2 on the way, and mods will soon take a backseat to diapers and formula! So I gotta get the big hit items out of the way soon! Thanks again for sharing your opinion and all the fantastic compliments, I do appreciate it! |

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=76510&hl= I would say pass on a front lip if you really want a bumper...you will end up trying to sell the lip anyway once you get the bumper you really want. The m5 OEM bumper is nice, but hard to get flush with a non-M5 e60...although it seems there are problems with the umnitza m5 bummper sitting flush also (one thread). Either way, GL with your moddin'...my only real advice is to get what you really want the first time around, as you will end up spending more money later to get it/them anyway  |
Great looking XI!

Thanks man! Actually, thanks x2....you and DrLev pointed me down the path of the VMR's some time ago. You are not shy in posting pics of your old xi  :D Oh and thanks to DrLev indirectly for convincing me to NOT mess with the xi suspension...something about razor blades and bump stops :o :D |
very nice!

However, now that KW has a set out, I would definitely do these instead. PS - So wait...you want me to post pix of my old car on this thread? Hahahaha! Just kidding.  :P ;) |

Looks great mike. Like looking out to my driveway haha. Keep it up
|
Maybe we need to see it in person, but the ride height seems ok. Lowering it would get it sportier, but it doesn't seem super high like it does on 17's. I would know, I still have my stock 17's on mine and it seems like I could run over a deer and then stash it in the gap.
|
looks great Mike thanks again :)
|
That's a nice and clean one Mike-
