Sup?

Could someone explain why the heardrest on certain sports seat are different from others.

If you look in the information section of this board, and look at the interior of the auburn dakota trim you will see a different headrest to the others. This is the one I prefer and wondered if it changed to that in the 2005 model year.

Thanks after a little searching I have come to the same conclusion. Now i's going to be even harder to find a car, because I want every option and now comfort seats.

For 2004 you do want to get comfort seats. Sport seats are pretty bad. Starting with 2007 MY sport package includes comfort seats.

My Dinan 3 was flooded 3 weeks ago here in NYC and I need a car asap so being this picky isn't working in my favor. But if I don't get everything I want then I will lust after things like those seats.

I take exception to that statement. I had sport seats for 6 years, including most recently from 2004 to 2007 in a 2004 545. Sport seats are slightly firm when the car is brand new but they break into to a softer feel rather quickly. I liked the sport seats a lot. My new 550 sport has the comfort seats which I am not sure that I prefer over sport seats. One needs to try both out to see what works best for you, however I would not shy away from an otherwise great car just to get the comfort seats. In 2004 most 545's with the sport package came with the sport seats because there was a rather hefty up-charge for the comfort seats. The 2004 545 with the sport package is an absolutely great car that is wonderful to drive. Rather than looking for a 545 with the sport package and comfort seats, I would suggest looking for one with HUD, the Nav system, and Logic7. If you want Bluetooth functionality it is important that you get one manufactured after March 2004. My 545 was a problem free car. The only times, other than routine maintenance, that it was in the shop was for door seal replacement and to replace the run-flat tires which was typical for that model year. If you find a car with those options you will have a great car that is only very negligibly less than the new 550 sport. A properly equipped 2004 545 sport is a great value in today's marketplace. It would be worth searching across the US to get a 545 with those features.

I concur with the previews post in that the sport seats in my '05 545 are wonderful. Actually the most comfortable seats I have ever had in a car. They provide comfort while also providing great support, especially for anyone with a bad back. You can drive all day and not be fatigued. I would not hesitate to buy a 545 sport package with all the options you want except comfort seats.

Take your time and don't rush the purchase you may regret it later if you don't get the options you want.
