I imagine you are suggesting that the sport would be far more punishing. With the tires and rims being equal, the ARS-equipped car should be far more compliant since the anti-roll bar will be disengaged, preventing "copying" of the bumps from one side of the car to the other.
With larger rims, lower profile rubber, and RFTs... well, reality is somewhat different.

I came from a non-sport and yes...i can notice the difference.
1) either try to take a pretty tight corner/curve without breaking
2) move from one line to the next speeding a bit and you will feel some rolling/shaking without sportpk.
By the way..you are correct...if you take a pretty tight corner or curve you will feel nothing with
sport pkg. Too solid!

Good point! I'm an old timer, still had stuck in my brain that AS came with the sports package. It is indeed a separate option now. But he still should have been able to notice the active roll stabilization kicking in during hard cornering...
One thing is fore sure, kscarrol, BMW's does change their specs all the time.
Mostly for the better, but if they find some earing possibilties they use it!
Cars are in these days so up to the sub contractors and the part list is vast.
There has also been a nasty gossip (by serious EU newpapers) about some
bribes within the BMW buyers org...
But beeing on the top is never easy, is it.

To be honest, at the end of the day BMW doesn't make cars that don't handle well, irrespective of spec (double negative but you know what I mean). It's different degrees of good/excellent. FWIW the non sport 545 was tested against the sport equipped E500, the M45 and the STS in a Motor Trend comparison late last year, standout quote was "the 545i is a sublime machine with a suspension tuned to be perhaps the perfect compromise between ride and handling, an engine that speaks like Miles Davis's trumpet, and a chasis that feels more solid than the USS Ronald Reagan's keel.". Most tests feature the sport pack (and if I have it right ARS isn't standard on sport throughout the world) but here at least was some validation that even without the E60 is better than most of the competition.
