For those of you withthe sport package, how often do you engage the sport mode button? Do you use it usually for spririted driving now and then, more often than not etc?

Thanks

The sport mode is available whether you have the sport package or not, when I had an automatic I actually very rarely used sport mode, usually I was in D or Manual Mode.

On my SAT, I use manual mode with the sport button pressed 100% of the time...

I never use the sport mode. I don't like the late and harsh shifting. If I feel like doing some spirited driving, I use the manual mode otherwise it stays in "D" mode.

im in sport all the time. my exhaust sounds bad when it downshifts and i feel like im driving stick again, cause i dont have to brake as much. i let the car downshift for me.lol.. = less brake dust in my sick head..lol

I only hit sports mode every now and then, the car is quick enough for me.. there's too much traffic in the DC area to enjoy it :/

The "button" AFIK only comes on cars equipped with the SAT.

Every day. The default D position of the SAT (and the steptronic as well) is, in my opinion, something BMW had to do to get their fleet-average mpg's up to CAFE standards and avoid the gas guzzler tax. (In 2006 (and 2007 I think), the GGT applied at least to the 550i, but in 2008 it did not.) Default driving is okay in traffic (and with active cruise on it's the only way to go). But when conditions permit I press the button and enjoy the heck out of the car.

More often than not. But alas, my 550 is hibernating for winter. Come on spring!!!!!!

Now, in my 2002 Jeep Liberty, I engage "sport" mode in the snow and have a hell of a good time up, down and around any snow or mud covered surface I can find. A different kind of fun, but fun nonetheless.

I wasn't sure if he was referring to his E60 or the X5.
