Wondering why there's no sport button for my 2005 545i auto trans with sport package?

Flipping the auto gear shift to the left actives DS mode. Not exactly the same as a sport button for the SMG trannies, but the steptronic equivalent.

At least that is how I understand it....others will confirm that only the SMG's have the sport button (and possibly the three footed manual version).

Why does the 6 series have this "sport" button and not the 5s?

the manual doesn't either... get a sprint booster if you want better throttle response. Dinan software should do the same and make your auto trans shift quicker I think

That's the same answer I got from my service adviser today.

There's no sport button because it doesn't have multiple suspension and shift profiles, it's always on Sport. The sport button is always pushed so to speak. The 6 series has multiple settings because they are usually driven by 60 year old dudes who want a Cadillac ride to go along with the BMW badge.

The SPort button on SMGs quickens the throttle response and adds additional steering effort. It is also a requirement for launch control.l

Even my wife's Mini Cooper has a sport button! It improves throttle response, shifts at higher RPM and tightens the steering response. I wish I had it on my 545!

I disagree, I've driven a 545i and than a 645ci and both feel fairly the same. Once the sport button was pressed on the 645ci, it felt like a different car. The 545i didn't feel the same, hence the "sport" isn't always on in the 545s...
