Please excuse me as I am new on the forum and new to BMW ownership having only had my E61 for 2 weeks, but my Business Navigation has what I would call split screen, i.e. I have the map on the left and the arrow directions on the right (it is possible to switch of the map and have just the arrow directions filling up the whole of the screen - as it does if I am in another screen and the navigation is active and I need to make a turn).

My car is a 2008 E61 supplied New March '08, the business navigation was part of an offer in the UK on the 2.0D for a total of ?350 including CD changer. Been very impressed with the performance, especially as I ordered BlueTooth and have the Connected Drive Option - plus Google Maps in the car.

Hmmm...you are describing exactly the features I was looking for...maybe it is standard after all ?
I am picking up a 2004 520 on saturday, I will find out then.

Tanks again to the contributors. Loads of useful stuff in here for a newbie!

I think the map/split screen on business nav is only available on LCI cars (MY2008). There was a mention that if you use a 2008 business nav disc it might enable it on older cars, but as far as I'm aware, nobody has tried this yet.

No use asking the americans - they get professional nav or nothing I believe.

Ok, thanks.
I will check it out on saturday, and then make some inquieries with my dealer regarding the 2008 disc.

And report back

I'd love this option if possible. I've got a 2007-02 business nav disc in my car at the moment, with just the arrow view. Actually having maps would be rather novel

New discs are ?230 (!!!!) from a dealer, I believe. I've always got recent ones off ebay, and there are lots of iso images on bittorrent of the professional discs, but the business disc is rare to find. Not that I'd condone copying a map disc of course. Unless it was for testing purposes .

Having done iquieries on a norwegian BMW forum it's my understanding that un upgrade require both new software and some hardware changes as well.

I will get back next week with more info I hope
