BMW 555i to Debut in 2009

E60 Spotted with Updated iDrive

Adding it all together, could we see the following configuration this Fall as a 2009 model?:
555i with the twin-turbo V-8
DCT transmission
updated iDrive

They also point out that BMW typically has offered some very special packages in the final year of a 5-series model run - and we certainly should expect the same in the case of the E60. I know my 1995 540i (the last of the E34 series) was loaded with M-bits, and so was the 2003 E39 540i.

I wouldn't doubt the '09 models to be loaded with extra's. I remember when I got my Audi in '05..I was torn between the old body "special addition" which had a sport and premium package included and the new body A4 where everything was on the sticker/included in the cost. Gotta get rid of the stock and make room for the new stuff. Also would help to boost sales of the soon-to-be old model thereby making even more room for the F10 and getting rid of e60 supplies....I would be surprised to see that new idrive interface in an '09 e60...I would expect to see it in the f10....IMO

I do not think so, but for the new F10 it will be true.

As they write:

"In fact it?s perhaps particularly telling that BMW will be updating the E60,
a car scheduled to be replaced for the 2010 model year."

I could see an upgraded I-Drive being put into use this fall since it's going into service on other models as well as more trickle down M5 goodies that BMW needs to liquidate (such as the aero kit now standard on 550). My 330i performance pack was practically an M3 less motor as it was replaced a year later my current e90.

Nice pic of your dash. Is the trim horizontal (where your air vents are) painted gray or is that stainless or metal? Nice looking.
