I agree!
Although i really think that anyone that aims for the 550i (if money wouldn't be much of a problem) should aim for the m5.

Unfortuately, for most of us, money is always a problem. That is why I am going to work today. The M5 is significantly more money than the 550 - at least $20,000 comparably equipped. There is also the issue of the M5 having a touring range which is 200 plus miles, which I would find annoying. And the insurance issue. My 2006 550 is 40% less than my previous 03 M3 as far as insurance costs. Granted, this is because I have two teenage daughters on my policy, but the insurance companies, in general, are not that fond of the M badge. The 550 has near M car performance, but hovers under the radar.

I understand even though for me, despide the fac that i didn't drive the 550i (drove the 545i instead and the m5), for me the gap was huge between 545i and M5 in terms of performance, feeling and all...considering the 550i is closer to 545i more then to m5.
But come on if we in Europe or at least some of us don't care too much about fuel consumption, where fuel is really expensive here then what, m5 owners here have to be milionears to run thier car (insurance, fuel and so on...)?
Just a thought.

I heard the 560 will be a 560iL. An extra 6 inches to the rear seats and 3 more to the trunk. Could be cool.

Seriously, I do not belive a V12 will be available to the E60.
But there are car tuners that could make a 560i.
Alpina maybe?
I just read yesterday in our BMW Club of Finland's new mag about a
American built E21 (3-series, 1973 - 81) Alpina 333i!
