I initially ordered the NGK LASER PLATINUM (PLZFR6A11S) but after reading several posts and articles decided to go with the NGK IRIDIUMS (ILZFR611D). Then when i went to check on REALOEM it shows IRIDIUMS as discontinued and Platinums as the current plugs. I don't get it I thought IRIDIUMS are superior to Platinums, why would BMW go in reverse first installing Iridiums as OEM and then replacing them with platinums. Any info would be appreciated

Not sure why the Iridiums are no longer listed on RealOEM, but they are still widely available (PepBoys $6.99). I just bought a set and put them in my 525 with no issues. I also have NGK Iridiums in my MDX and Porsche. Seem to work great and I have heard generally positive recommendations on those forums as well.

Just double checked at the NGK and a few other sites. The NGK par number listed on RealOEM was not a fit for out cars (at least not the 525). The correct NGK number for the NGK Iridium IX plug is part #BKR6EIX stock #6418.

One of my BMWCCA chaptermates recommends Denso iridiums.

I never bothered looking into DENSO as i wanted to stick OEM supplier so it was between NGK AND BOSCH and did not find as strong of a recommendation for Bosch as for NGK, hence NGK IRIDIUMS IT IS !!
