Spark plug problem
I've looked online and haven't quite found a similar solution. Maybe I'm not searching right.
Below is a picture of one of my spark plug that I took out. Are first I thought it was the VCG but there wasn't oil anywhere else but on the thread and electrode. Am I right to think its not the VCG or do you guys think it is? http://www.freeimagehosting.net/newuploads/3q8sb.jpg |
She dont look nice to me, but I am not an expert!

That sounds expensive. What would a compression check tell me? And is it something I can easily DIY?
|
That is pretty severe carbon buildup, probably due to oil fouling from either 1. oil escaping past the piston rings, 2. worn valve guides and/or 3. worn valve seals. Of the 3 possibilties, 3 is the most likely (at least in the N62 engine), followed by 2.

I've ordered a valve cover gasket, ill replace it asap. Do you think the head gasket could have something to do with it also?

This is not a valve cover gasket issue, you need to address this issue BEFORE it blows up on you and before you drive it further. Please follow what i told you above if you would like to possibly save your engine. Compression check is most important. Go to sears and buy a compression tester. No harbor freight junk for this. Search google on how to do a compression check.
Best of luck! |
