Hi,
I've been told to install the wheel like that :
When you open the trunk and raises the cache to put the spare wheel:
1 / remove the white at the top of the rod
2 / remove the nut which sets the piece that covers the socket lock nuts wheels
3 / remove the bowl atmosphere
4 / check the bottom of the wheel housing is a cake polystyrene which normally should contain one or another electronic box (to protect)
5 / try to put the spare wheel, outside down, to put some objects in the hollow of the wheel (check up) - if not remove the boxes with care and the cake polystyrene * 64 *
6 / ok si, put the piece that covers the socket and the nut, place the boxes in the center of the wheel (attention to wiring) protection
7 / replace the white on top of the rod
8 / close the cache and check if everything is OK

I bought a spare wheel and 4 wheel rims with classic tires to replace my current wheel rims and tires runflat.
I would like to put the spare wheel (which is not an 'emergency wheel' but a true wheel) in the place of the safe(chest) but the outside diameter of the tire is slightly too big.
Is it necessary to remove a plastic mask to be able to install(settle) it ?
Thank you for your help.

My 535xi with factory 124s staggered 18" came with a spare tire - 135/80 R 17. Production May 2008. I am curious how a 17" spare can work with 18" factory 124s.

Did you too have to cut the groves out that are used to hold the wheel well dividers in place?

What are the dimensions of the tyre on your photo Rob ?
The one I would like to put is a 225/50R17 but I can't read the 2 first numbers.
