I bought a spare wheel and 4 wheel rims with classic tires to replace my current wheel rims and tires runflat.
I would like to put the spare wheel (which is not an 'emergency wheel' but a true wheel) in the place of the safe(chest) but the outside diameter of the tire is slightly too big. Is it necessary to remove a plastic mask to be able to install(settle) it ? Thank you for your help. |

You got a problem there zx97. What size of spare do you have now?
The best would be that you traded that spare to a OEM E60 spare. I would not destroy my trunk for any reason. Here's a pic of my choice for a spare. . |

Strangely enough I recently bought the space saver spare wheel as I am putting non-runflat tyres on the car........ I had to let quite an amount of air out of the tyre to get it to fit in the wheel well! Even then it took a good bit of 'encouragement' to get it to fit :o
The spare should always have at least the recommended pressure in it!!! If the spare don't fit, it's a wrong spare! |

Cars with the spare wheels don't have the carpet lining in the wheel well. If you spare is fitting snug even without the carpet then I'd say that its too tight.

Hi,
Thank you very much for those photos and your comments. I'll take a photo of mine but I'm pretty sure it looks different from the spare wheel shown. Of course my spare wheel, is just a real wheel, but the external diameter should be the same no ? |
