As you might be able to tell I am novice at mods?.When I have my 172?s on my 2008 550 it seems like my back wheels/tires sit in some vs. flush with the wheel wells. Similarly when I have my 124?s on, see pictures. If I put on spacers on the back wheels will that help push them out?

Also if spacers will help will one set help with my 172s and 124s?

yes, the rear can definetly benefit with a set of spacers. remember that you need to get longer wheel bolts if you get spacers.
i think most will use a 12 or 15 mm spacer on the rear.

 

go with 20mm

 

Thanks .....where do I buy spacers and the wheel bolts and are there different qualities of spacers? How do I know if I need 12 or 15? Do you think the same spacers will work with my 172 as well as 124s?

 

I went with 17.5mm in the rear from Turner.

 

my guess is your not lowered, so you should be able to do 20mm in the back and atleast 12mm in the front. I would go with H&R spacers.. i have ran them on all my previous cars with no issues and they are hubcentric.

To choose the right bolt length you just have to measure the thread length of your current bolts and then add the thickness of your spacer to it. For example if the bolt is 35mm long and you put a 15mm spacer --> 50mm bolts.

When you buy spacers for your, lets say, winter wheels, they may or may not be usable with your summer wheels. The summer wheels' width and offset are probably different, so that's why they sit differently in the wheel well. With the second wheel setup, the spacers (that were bought for the first wheel setup) may push the wheel too much out and this may cause tire rubbing the fender.
