I recently picked up a 2008 535i, it has the stock audio package (no speakers in the rear doors, just bass & treble adjustment) Does anyone recoommend a solution that would improve the sound quality without hacking up everything?

I hear the JBL MS-8? Replacing the amp? (maybe a PnP solution out there)

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Not sure if this would be a solution for you but on my 2008 528i over the holidays I installed the Bavarian Soundwerks Stage 1 Speaker upgrade. I also installed a JL Audio 8 w3 behind the drivers seat (I never use the back seats or have anyone ride with me so it was perfect) and a JL audio XD300/1 Sub amp. The improvement over stock is amazing. It sounds like my old e46 (similar set up). The install was a piece of cake for the speakers, just pop the front door panels and install, the rear speakers in the back deck were even easier. The sub amp and sub install was fairly easy too, just gotta remove the trunk lining and wire everything up. If you want to run a sub into the cabin like I did you just have to remove the rear seat (sounds tough but it was really easy). All in all this was probably the easiest stereo install i've ever done (i've done an e30 complete stereo install, e46 speakers and sub install, and an 85 porsche 911 complete stereo install). I also think that the stage 1 speaker upgrade would sound better than stock without the subwoofer upgrade but the subwoofer takes it to another level.

Here are some links to the items i installed:

Stage 1 kit: http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...es-M5-E60-E61/
JL Audio Sub: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136XD30...0%2f1&skipvs=T
JL Audio Amp: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1369313...ch=jl+audio+w3

another note: anyone interested in a sub INSIDE the cabin and not in the trunk (bmw trunks are super sealed its insane), the JL audio sub linked above is fantastic. It's small enough to fit perfectly behind the drives seat, only 5.25 inches wide, can easily be unplugged to remove in case someone needs to ride. All in all an easy solution for bass instead of hacking up the ski pass or getting super huge subs for the trunk.

Cheers!

i dropped alot of wsted money on the stereo in this car. take my advice. replace the sock 4s in the front doors with 6.5s. u wuill have to cut them into the bottom of the door(custom) the4's offer no midbass and there freq. range sucks. u can replace the rear deck 4s for a aftermaket set so u can have some rear fill. u want your fade to be set up front more anyways. as for low end bass u can replace the two 8 inch speakers under the seats or just leave them alone. running a sub in the trunk is pointless unless u cut out a hole between ur cabin and ur trunk. u wont get the bass u want out of the sub if u dont. if u have fold down seats then ur a lucky man. im running one eclipse 10 in a sealed box about 2.0 cubes. facing the tailights. i have the box sitting about and inch from the tailights. it totally kills my useable trunk. kinda beat. the bass hit hard tight and clean for 1 10 at 700 watts rms. my two amps were run into a jl audio clean sweep. the clean sweep runs off the factor wirirng. if i could go back in time i woulda left everything alone.

I have the Logic 7 setup, but it could still be better. Has anyone done the BSW Stage 1 upgrade to a Logic 7 system here?

Plenty of BMW guys have done the ms-8. I have it and love it. If you do the ms-8 get a center channel if you have the hi-fi system and also get technic harness. tell him you doing ms-8 upgrade https://5series.net/forums/topic/103...-built-in-loc/

The BSW upgrade are crap, not worth the asking price!! get some rainbows or morels. here's a group buy on some rainbows https://5series.net/forums/topic/115...1#entry1362017
