My 2008 528i is one month old. Got in and started this morning, the display showed - "SOS - System Call Malfunction"
I tried to turning the car off and back on again, the ole' reboot method. Still there. My bluetooth no longer works.
I called the dealer and they said that is a new message to them, so I have to bring it in for service this afternoon.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced this warning message themselves?
Thanks!

Yep, I have same exact problem in my 2006 525i.
Dealer opened a case with BMW itseems.. waiting for callback from dealer. I guess they will replace TCU, but probably need approval from BMW

I just went back out to my car at work and tried it again - no warning and bluetooth and everything else working again now.

I cancelled my appointment, probably shouldn't have cancelled though - I told them I would reschedule it the error comes back-

From what you are saying, I guess it will.

I hope it is not elec. problem as it is raining like hell here in San Antonio and I will have much water to go through on my way home.

Thanks for the quick feedback coolguy!

Had the same problem in MY 2005 530i The dealer put 5 TCU Units in the car in a 9 month period before they got it right. Now everything is working perfect. Once a month I press the SOS button and ask the operator for a location to make sure everthing is working. From what I was told the dealer can't replace the TCU Unit on their own, they have to get the OK from BMWNA before they can do so. Good luck
cheers
