I've got a 2008 e60 LCI (UK based) and seem to be having the same problem with the SOS error. I have the AUX audio, so i have a TCU and a MULF2 as well, pics attached. I can see light coming from the MULF2 so I believe it's working fine. I have a MOST loop I bought online. Can I use the MOST loop to bypass the TCU or will this have other side effects? As it says in the earlier post, MULF2 will handle audio and Bluetooth, so if I bypass TCU I will only lose SOS and so the error should stop?

Some pics below of the MULF2 ( I found this under the spare tyre in the trunk ), the TCU which is on the left side of the trunk and what I see on the right side of the trunk ( I believe this is the fuel pump controller ).

Alternative would be to code out, but that's another whole load of hassle.

Thanks in advance - help appreciated!

My MULF2 looks like it’s completely destroyed…

my questions are:
1. If I get a ‘new’ one from the ‘Bay do I have to match up any numbers or can I just pick one that seems to be the same thing?

2. Do I have to program it or is it just plug and play? (I fiber looped it and my BT started working)

3. Will my AUX/usb come back? I have AUX on my screen, but when I click on it nothing happens… and the USB Jack doesn’t do anything… not even power to my phone

Ensure you get a MULF2-HI. In theory it's plug and play and should work fine but I would recommend once installed program your VIN then factory code it. Takes no more than a couple mins. It ensures you have all the options coded that came with the car and also your BT name will be your VIN as it was when it came from the manufacture.

I found one on eBay with an exact matching part number (the seven digit number on the side sticker) so hopefully that will fix my issues… just need to make sure I get NCS or some other software to program my VIN… I might not need to, but in case I do, it’s good to be prepared

You don't need to do anything for it to work. Coding and programming come in to play when 1. You want you BT name to match your VIN, 2. the options on the replacement module do not match yours. Other than that it's plug and play
