Surprised no one mentioned the MPM and/or the relay. Of course it may not be located the same. Mine was re-located by dealer under the driver's tail lamp.

"The time is reset by switch-on conditions, e.g. by a door being opened. This means: The vehicle is unable to go into sleep mode after terminal R is switched OFF. ne There is no limit to the number of times this process can be repeated. It could thus cause the battery to become discharged!ne The MPM goes into sleep mode approx. 1 second after the K-CAN goes into sleep mode. Before the MPM goes into sleep mode, the current switch state of the bistable relay is stored."

Ah that completely bypassed my mind...

The MPM is one little annoying component, and when the trunk of your car floods, your MPM is inundated with water. Check for any signs of burning etc., I've seen many MPM's go bad due to exposure to water.

The MPM doesn't need coding/programming you can just swap it. If you have a friend with another 5er and has this part perhaps you can borrow his to test just make sure you disco the neg battery terminal before removing so he doesn't get errors when re-inserting. OR you can just go buy one but it that's not the issue then your SOL because its a non-returnable part. After reading this thread I'm pretty sure that could be the issue. We should be posting this up for ever 5 owner that has the MPM...they NEED to relocate it if it hasn't already been done!

Make sure you update us with findings/solutions so we can help another in the future. Who knows maybe they wont even have to post!

It shouldn't be. It should be a simple plug and play job, as it isn't specifically coded to your car (like the IBS)
