Default Someone settle a debate for me!

Hello guys!
Long time no talk I have a dealership here in socal, but I am not a vendor so I wont give any details.

I am bantering back and forth with a client (John are you on here? LOL ) and for my curiosity I need this settled.

My facts:

- Sport Auto Transmission was introduced in 2008 for the 2008 MY. It was not available in 2007 (and is quite a wonderful feature). Client states his 07 MY has "sport auto" and I am confident this is not possible.

- CIC nav in a US Spec e60 did not come out until the 2010 MY. To my knowledge there exists but a handful of 09 MY cars that snuck out with as a 09MY and CIC navigation, and rare enough to say that it didnt exist. They DID update the CONTROLLER in /09 but not the CIC > CCC. Sound right?

I take my fact checking pretty seriously, and if I am wrong I need to be corrected. Please dont take guesses, if you have documentation to validate or refute my claims, post them up please!

Later,
Abe

all the auto transmissions have a sport mode by moving the shifter to the left. 2004-2007 however, the sport auto trans option that came in 2008, includes the paddle shifters.

Yes I wasnt referring to the sport mode. I am referring to the SAT specfically, that changes the trans shift points, steering response, and throttle response. This was exclusive to 2008+ and a $500 option. it took the "sport" mode to another level that wasnt available in <2007.

From my understanding you are correct on the CIC vs CCC. I have a 2010 MY e60 (production 9/2012) without NAV, and I have the CCC idrive. The car manual however has directions and screen shots of the newer CIC idrive. I asked the dealer and they said that if i had the NAV option and bigger screen I would have the newer CIC but since I didnt i have the older CCC.

For the transmission question, it seems like there might be confusion on what option you are asking about. SAT would apply to the option to slide the shifter over and manually shift gears or use paddles which has been around for a while. "Sport mode" is pressing the button and having the increased sport like feel (steering, suspension etc) which I think has been around since 2008. GL

Run the VIN to verify (by code) what options are on a specific car. As a dealer you have access - for others - Ð*аÑшифровка VIN BMW :: BMW :: Первый Интернет журнал об автомобилÑÑ… BMW :: Ð’ÑÑ‘ о BMW, новоÑти, Ñтатьи, обзоры, фото БМВ

There have been retrofits for both the CiC and SAT to older MY E60s here, but from the factory, the OPs original coments/timeline are correct!

I checked the owners manuals on www.bmwusa.com and found that the 'Sport Automatic Transmission' is specifically listed in 2007 manuals but not 2006 manuals.
My 2 cents.

I have a March, 2007 production (2008 MY) 550i and was told the SAT option was not available until April of 2007.

Was available during the 2008 production run. The only thing this option gives you are the paddles on the steering wheel and a little nicer shifter(has a leather boot). Yes it does change throttle response and shift points, Does not having anything to do to with steering response.
