X models are really big here in the Northeast. I don't think they sell nearly as well in our warmer states.
And yet a country where they do get snow sells less than 1000 x series. Makes me wonder why we really need them here. Or could it be we just can't drive in the snow and the X give us a sense of security.

Interesting stats. I'm surprised that only 90% of the cars have Air-Cond. Is that even an option these days? Or maybe that 10% have AC broken, who knows?

Well, there is no doubt that a 4 wheel drive with dedicated snows will have much more traction in terms of go power in the snow than RWD with dedicated snows. I think that people here in the NE want the extra security of 4WD. Of coursem 4WD won't help you stop any faster and won't save you if you hit a sheet of ice.

When I was a kid and teenager and my father and I used to drive up to Killington, Vermont to ski every other weekend, I was always shocked that most of the cars that had slid off the road were 4WDs. Lots of people driving them don't seem to get it that the 4WD won't help them stop.

Hardly anything is standard here.

I believe they can use chains and studded tires there, and most of them do, so buying an AWD or 4x4 would be a bit redundant for them.
I never saw or heard of anybody ever using chains or studded tires. We are all legally forced to use snow tyres in winter though. It was made law a couple of years ago.

Are we still talking cars or the X-rated models?
