Sometime this afternoon, a person passing by the sidewalk where our car is parked at daytime has had a bit of fun with a key or screwdriver. Approximately 10-20 cars have all been keyed.. including the hood of the BMW and the hatch on our Polo.. luckily it seems that the scratch doesn't go through the clear coat.
Anyway it's extremely annoying, and I'm surprised by the stupidity some people obviously are showing.
Hopefully I'll be able to reduce the scratch (approximately 1 meter long) with a couple of polishes.. if it isn't removed after polishing, I'll try using Autoglym's Paint Renovator, and then give the hood a couple of layers of wax.

Sorry to hear about that, paasan.
Yesterday I have seen a parking lot where there were about 50 cars (all kind of brands, some brand new, some very old) and all sidewindows were damaged. Some idiot just crashed them all. Some ppl are just too stupid.

Under Texas property laws, that would be a shooting offense (malicious mischief) if caught in the act after daylight hours (nightime only). However, the legal bill, even for a justified shooting would be 25-50,000 USD. So, I'd probably nash my teeth like you have, paasan, and get along with the repair. That doesn't make such behavior any less despicable, though. I am sorry that it had to happen to you.

Sorry to hear about your car......... I've also been a victim of vandalism in the past where the scratch was so deep that I had no choice but the repaint the entire fender. Hope the wax works.......

that really sux....
i know i've been the 'get over it - it is a car' guy before but some dik with a key really riles me up - he should be slapped like a red-headed step son...
ps jdn: thanks for reminding me again why i prefer a society where 'shooting offense' is not in the public legal lexicon!!!

Paasan: I'm sorry about this happening to you. The perps need to be physically hurt due to the complete lack of respect and regard for others.
skidster: Why would one slap a step-son just becaue they had red hair? I'm truly curious about the background of that one! Please enlighten.

Day 8.5 of no tobacco/nicotine of any kind and loving that too! [I'm having a hard time believing that I actually paid approx. $8 per day to poison myself! Oh well, live and learn, I guess]
