I've been to Hong Kong twice.
With the price of the cars, gas and limited parking, plus easy access to public transportation - I would personally go there with no car.
I would consider buying a hybrid bicycle and a sports motorcycle though.

I consider HongKong still as separate country, I lived there for two years from 2000 to 02. There were a lot of things which are different from mainland china (which includes driving (right and left had wheels), perhaps now things have changed. Its definitely a place to live and make some money.. good luck with your job..make sure you visit Maccau and Shenzen..
