My Ride: 2007 550i
Well equipped. Let the mods begin!
I went back and forth for weeks between a GS450h and the BMW 550i. In the end, the Lexus was simply "too refined" (if that makes sense) for me. It was very nice, but most definitely felt like something I'd rather drive when I hit, say 60 years old...but that is just me. I am certain I would have loved it...but after really (really) driving the 550 for a couple of hours, it was a no-brainer for what I wanted to experience with this car (this is my 52nd car or motorcycle BTW).
A guy who works for me bought an IS...initially was thrilled with it...but confessed it was a total compromise so his girlfriend would like it. They both now report they are bummed that they didn't get what they KNEW in their hearts the really wanted...a BMW. Nothing feels like the BMW.
Enjoy it! There's plenty of time to try something else one day if you so decide.

My Ride: 545i Sport Package, Black/Grey. Got it July 09.
Model Year: 2004
enjoy the IS man, it's a great car
i almost got one myself but then the 545 came along n that was the end of my 3 year lexus run. i'm glad you enjoy it now though because it took me a while to start enjoying my ES350. its a completely different breed than the bimmer but i still miss it from time to time. (the soft leather, THE NAV, the no squeaking)
on a side note: idk if its the forums that did this to me or the mpg gauge, but i used to drive the lexus like a sport car and now with more performance, i drive the 545 like a senior citizen.. ??

My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
yessir, 3 runs from a stop pulled on him each time - and I don't have 260HP, that's the N52 engine (2006-2007). I have the M54 engine - 225HP

also it all depends on the driver and what kind of road.
My full mod (no ecu mod) 525i can out run a stock 530i on twisty road
