Hi All:
My software was reinstalled yesterday (5 hours) because BMW had to replace my "transmitter." I am told that I got 19.01.01. Everything seems perfect--Bluetooth, etc., etc. And, shifting seems faster in DS and manually.
What is the latest software version being installed in the US as far as you know? And, assuming your software has been reinstalled somewhat recently, what verion was reinstalled.

My vehicle has a newer software version than what is even included in 19.02, and represents a probably-as-yet-unreleased CIP version. Keep in mind that while the CIP version corresponds with certain software versions, the CIP version itself isn't your software version. The actual software version is E060-year-month-revision, e.g., E060-05-10-535 (which is what is installed on my car). The underlying software installed by both CIP 19.01 and 19.02 is E060-05-09-530.

Thanks Das. I also think that there is no 19.1. And, yes, like Mac Tiger 10.3 or whatever. Glad you told me. Do you know the beginning number for E060-05-10-535? And, is it correct that the E060 ... value can be obtained via iDrive? I think I saw it yesterday when getting everything back the way I like it.

The way to check your software version is to use the hidden iDrive diagnostics screens. You can activate this by 1) pressing and holding the iDrive controller for 10 seconds 2) clicking the controller 3 right 3 left 1 right 1 left 1 right; and 3) pressing the controller once.
On non-Nav cars, go to the Versionkontrolle menu item and scroll down to the last item. There you will see an entry that looks like this: I-05-09-510-050509. The first 7 digits of that series of numbers (in this case 05-09-510) can be compared to TIS bulletin SI B 61 14 03 which can be found
here. Each CIP release corresponds to one of these target data strings. Note that some software releases do not contain changes for the E60, so the target data string will not change between CIP publications. But, in general, you can narrow your software down to at least the major version (e.g., CIP 19.XX).
For Pro-Nav vehicles, the access procedure is the same but the screens are slightly different. The screen is called ECU, the first menu item on the left side is Applikation. Look for the last item on the right hand screen which has the target data string following the string SID_HIDDEN_VERSION=.

I had a software update about a month ago and the SA wrote v19.1.1 on my final work order.
