The newest version is much higher than that ( DMS 34.1+ now in the USA), you will also need to take your car to a Dealer to get the programing done as it can't be done at home, you might be able to find a secondary Mechanic with a GT-1 to do it for you cheaper.
If you are looking for the newest maps that is a different issue.

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny.
2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter.
Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.
Are you talking software for the actual GPS portion of iDrive or software for the entire car?

Model Year: 2005
v31 is for the old MK4, MK3 on e39, e38, e46. Actually the v32 is the latest. The e60 navi software can be only updated at the dealer. It doesn't work like the old models with a software CD, door open and in 5 min you have a new software.

My Ride: 2008 Space Gray 550i, Light Poplar Wood, Anthracite Head Liner, Sport Package, Sport Automatic Transmission, Cold Weather Package, Front Ventilated Comfort Seats in Black Nasca Leather, NAV, HUD, Active Steering, Comfort Access, Night Vision, Lane Deviation Warning, Active Cruise Control, Heated Rear Seats, Folding Rear Seats, Power Shade w/ Rear Side-Shades, Rear Air Bags, Logic 7, HD Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio, iPod/USB Adapter. Car in BMW Body Shop, estimated completion 01/24/07.
I don't know what version I have (and don't really care all that much) (but how do you find out?)... My NAV works fine, and coupled with the voice recognition it is a very powerful tool. I wouldn't pay much if anything to have the latest and greatest, it meets my needs just fine as-is.

My Ride: BMW E60 530i
Sorry, I'm kinda noobie when it comes to upgrading iDrive software or whatever...
But I wanted to ask...
our family recently picked up a brand new 2010 BMW X5 and saw that it had welcome light and day time running lights and other little improvements and I was wondering whether all that can be done by some kind of an upgrade to my iDrive in my 5 Series?
It's an E60 5 Series (2nd Generation but not LCI!) Like, I don't know about the US, but in Australia there were 3 generations of 5 Series -
2003-2005: 1G BMW E60 5 Series with 530i having 170kw;
2006-2007: 2G BMW E60 5 Series with 530i having 190kw; and
2007-2010: 3G BMW E60 5 Series with 530i having 200kw.
Mine is the 2006 model! Please help!

Are the significant updates of each version listed anywhere? For example, I know that one of the 2009 versions added East European countries and the 2010 version apparently adds full postcode searching (for the UK atleast).
