Depends what version your car has now but starting with Progman 25 you will get a completely redesigned and enhanced user interface.
I have the latest upgrade (about 3 weeks ago - I hope it's the latest). I couldn't tell too much of a difference aside from the fact that it now displays the actual radio station names and song titles.....I had a REALLY old version before (v17 or v18).

I?m working on an article covering the improvements and changes. It is not a short article.

Well, there is a big difference. Esp. if you had CIP 17 or 18.

I look forward to reading it. I think my ProgMan is even older. Yet everything works properly, even the Bluetooth phone. I don't have satnav, so will it change anything for me? I'm vaguely interested in the ipod interface which will need a ?500 dealer ProgMan upgrade. I cannot find anything to fault my current ProgMan which I guess is V16 or thereabouts. I refuse to pay for the update just because I may fancy the ipod interface and cannot find anything amiss with my current ProgMan to force the dealer to upgrade in order to rectify a problem. My only issue is it's fuel consumption which for a 530D Auto is achieving about 22mpg in urban driving, improving to 35mpg on a gentle long run. It still has 9 months approved used BMW warranty.

Is there anything wrong or bug in the 26.1.2?
Also I read somewhere that Progman 26 is the same as the last increment as Progman 25 as far as pre-LCI e60s is concerned but of course that's could be passing on innacurate information.

26.1 was correcting the issues with 26, and is the one that should be used.
26.1.1 had minor changes
26.1.2 only has changes for the 1series.
Over all, 26 has no major changes.
27 is on its way and will be more important.
