I went to the dealer, because I wanted the car's software update (latest progman). He sad that it takes 8 hours to update - OK. I left the car at the dealer.

3 hours later he cals me and sad, that I have to replace the monitor (Idrave screen), because it is too old tu update?? There is nothing wrong with the screen, just it is OLD Is this true, or he just want's some 800 EUR from me?

He did not make the upgrade because of the screen. So I'm stuck with old progman

I have a 2005 E61 with navi proffesional.

Thanks

To use and Americanism - that's "horse hockey".

I had my 2004 updated recently. No problem. Screen shouldn't make any difference.

Ok, thanks. It is hard to find a good dealer in our country. (will try another)

One more thing

I have a remap (tuning), will I lose a remape with the software update?

Thanks for quick replays

Yes you will. Unfortunately.

Sometimes there are parts, which are not compatible with new software versions and has to be replaced to complete software update. If repair to your car requires software update and it cannot be completed without changing fully functional parts, it should not be your problem and cost. It's BMW's version mgt problems.

Your dealer should report a Puma case to BMW.
