Since the software is upgraded to 20.x, the panic alarm feature is driving me crazy.

Before the update, I have never triggered the alarm when opening the trunk with the keyfob. Now, it's happening almost every week. It seems that the panic button is now activating much earlier than before.

Anyone has the same experience? :help:

Thanks!

My experience is the exact opposite. Early on, with the CIP version that I had a couple years ago, the panic alarm was easy to set off. Now, either I'm really used to pressing the remote just right or they've tweaked the software to make it less prone to false alarms.

As a matter of fact, just today I was thinking about how I haven't set it off for quite some time and I was thinking about how they must have improved on things because if they hadn't, we'd be reading about it here much more often since membership has grown so much recently due to the increase in E60 sales...

i just got upgraded and have the same problem.

What i guess is if the car has sat overnight it is more likely to occur.

the first time i try to open the trunk, it failes - -(since the computer is just waking up?) and then i try it again just a bit longer and set it off.

do you set off the panic even during the middle of the day?

I always unlock the car before opening the trunk. I believe unlocking the car deactivates the alarm.

No Panic Alarm in Europe. :(

I'm pretty sure it doesn't deactivate the panic feature -- try unlocking your car then hold down the trunk release button for a few seconds...

Yes, it happens anytime of the day... I'm being very careful now on pressing the trunk button...but this means it usually take a few tries before I can open up my trunk!!

That's true.

However I think the sensitivity gets modified with the doors unlocked. Say from 2 secs for a locked car to maybe 4 secs for an unlocked car?

It might have more to do with the initial unlocking causing the car to wake up. While the doors are locked (and the car presumably sleeping) the first couple of seconds may be "absorbed" by the software waking up...
