It struck me that it would be a usefull resource to have a record of the highest mileage cars and the owners experiences.

On that basis you should list the following.

Perishables like worn discs are valid, but I think its pointless to post the pad wear or tyre wear for example unless it was somehow extreme or out of the ordinary ?

1) Mileage - Goes without saying huh ?

2) Modifications if they are of a mechnical nature or possibly related to problems ( Ie chipped, remapped etc for example )

3) Problems you have experienced, or indeed LACK of problems

4) How your car has been looked after, ie do you have a full main dealer service history etc ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I bought my car with 80k Miles on the clock and have only had a few niggles so far thankfully, car currently has 84k on it.

My car is a Sept 2005 build 530d M-Sport 231bhp, not currently running any mechanical mods apart from Pads - ran a tuning box for a couple of months however.

One slightly unresolved issue is surging when cruising at around 30mph with or without cruise control, you can see the revs popping up despite maintaining an average speed, almost like a manual car drive popping the clutch in and out.

I have a FMDSH up to date.

33,000 miles for me on a 2004 . As for your surging, could it be air-conditioning? I know it'll pop the revs up a couple of hundred rpm at idle. Don't know if it does that while driving (at above idle rpm already). With a regular low power engine you probably wouldn't notice it much, but with a torque monster perhaps you do.

I have an 84 E28 533i, with 207K miles, owned since new, garaged, well maintained, perfect body and interior. No serious problems (two clutches, radiator, minor stuff). It's still my son's daily driver.

Maybe everybody leases?

Not a galactic cruiser exactly but the car i just traded was an 02, 525i, 5sp approximately 94,000 miles on the odometer.
I was still running the 2nd set of factory spec Michelins since new.
Only repairs:
First two weeks New alternator and battery
Last 6 months: New thermostat
Lost count: Broken seat brackets (the cover housing the power seat controls)
No mods, no other problems to speak
Still ran like a top, handled perfectly
Someone will be driving that car in 10 years...

Guys if you could add your model and year to your posts please, that way the relative info you posted will be more understandable if you change cars or leave the forums for any reason in the future, atm we are relying on some of you for model / year details from your sigs alone.

Thanks
