I believe that's one of the light ambient sensors. I'm not sure though...

Ambient light/heat sensor. It senses the strength and direction of the sun for purposes of correcting for proper function of the auto-hvac system.

Basically it allows the computer to uses an algorithm to correct the temperature readings it might be getting at the shaded interior temp sensors for the strength of the outside light and resulting heat.
