Agree with HealthServices guidance. I had the same issue of increased emissions warning, service engine soon light, rough idle and even some smokey starts. Replacing the two valves on the 545i did the trick.

i'm going to pick these up today - looks like a no brainer to replace!
Problem 1: I have a fluctuating idle at cold starts (not rough, just fluctuating), and these valves might do the trick.
Problem 2: Also while driving (intermittently) my throttle response gets weird and very touchy. When it does this, if I put the clutch in the idle is around 1100rpm! Whats even weirder is if my AC is on and I put the clutch in, the idle is at 750, but then while the clutch is in if I turn the AC off, the idle instantly rises to 1100....
This only happens 10% of the time, and if I pull over and turn the engine off and back on, its all normal again!
Not sure if the second set of symptoms I have is related to the CCV's, but they are cheap and probably haven't been replaced on my car so its worth a shot.
Anyone else had these throttle/idle issues described in problem #2?
Thanks!

It's just a breather aka vent tube, not needed I would guess. Or it could be you received an updated version or something for a different requirement (NY and CA law)
