Everything is getting close now. I'm down to the dreaded "time is slowing down" section of ordering a new car. Everything is sorted, the following is done;

1) Phoned up insurance company and put new car on policy. Requested cover note (by fax, due to stupid UK postal strike), so can send that off to the dealer for their final bits of paperwork.
2) Finance all signed and sorted. Full deposit paid and cleared.
3) Confirmed that car is due to arrive at the dealer next Wednesday, 10th October.
4) I am in London on business from Wednesday until Saturday morning.
5) Confirmed with dealer that instead of getting train back to Manchester, I will get train only as far as Coventry (half way), go to dealer, and drive new car rest of way home

So, I am 9 days away from picking the new car up. It's so close. But seems so far away. I know it will come round really quickly and before I know it I'll be posting my review, photos, etc. There really should be a "support forum" set up on here, for people who are waiting for their new cars to arrive, who can comfort each other on bad days...

Cool

Picking up on Tuesday 9th October now, so beat you to it mate .

I'm so sad though. I just e-mailed my dealer and asked very nicely for a photo of my car as they're prepping it just now.

You need to give yourself smaller things to look forward to each day in the meantime, e.g. go to pub tonight, buy a DVD to watch tomorrow night, go somewhere for lunch on Sunday, find something in TV schedules that you like for Monday, etc.

God, you can tell I'm in the same boat can't you?

I know the feeling guys..... Got mine at the end of April (one of the earlier LCI's). The last week seems to take forever........................................... .

Once you actually get your car though, time absolutely flies. I've had mine now for coming up 6 months and covered 11.5k miles already!!

Hang in there guys, your cars will soon be 6 months old like mine and time will have passed you by like a blink!

The last few days of the wait can be painful but before you know it, you'll be enjoying your new baby!

(Imagine how hard it was to get as far as I did and then have an unexpected extra week delay! http://forums.e60.net/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=444635)

LOL at Russ and FastBoy....

I know it's tough in the last stages, I don't know if this helps but......

I GOT MINE ALREADY AND I'M ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT!!!!!!!

Sorry about that, couldn't resist since we've bantered on the recent 535d ordering thread!

Going back to your mention of insurance? You didn't take BMW up on the 1 week free cover? Much less hassle than sending cover notes. Basically, as long as you phone BMW Insurance and let them quote you for insurance (you don't have to accept - I didn't), you'll get 1 week's cover free of charge and they provide all the documentation direct to your dealer with no involvement from you. This is a lot more straight forward for the dealer too. Basically, your dealer should give you a reference number and the BMW Insurance number, and they'll take care of it from there.

Funny you should mention that ... I spoke to the dealer today and said that I was having trouble getting a cover note and that a fax wouldn't suffice, they said "we were going to tell you to get the 1 week free BMW cover...". So, I phoned up the BMW insurance company to get the one week cover, but didn't have enough details to hand so they couldn't provide cover. Will call them back tomorrow, they'll then forward the details on to the dealer by email, and all will be sorted. I hope

*sigh* is it only TWO DAYS since I started this thread...

I sorted out the free 7 day BMW insurance today so that is all sorted now. I'm just reliant on the dealer receiving the car on Wednesday 10th so they have time to fit the extras and do the PDI before collection on Saturday. Crossed fingers...!!
