Just tried to go up my 1600 ft uphill drive during sleet and snow. Didn't make it!

Do you have sports tires or winter tires. Try that hill with a set of Michelin Alpin 2's. You should not have a problem. Last year we were the only ones making it up a hill in sleet/snow conditions. Vehicle- 530i Tires- Alpin 2's

You really need a set of snow tires. I have Dunlop Wintersport M3 and haven't had a problem yet.

With snow tires, I'm able to make it up hills that 4WD Jeeps fitted with "all-season" tires can't go up...

I concur with Rudy. I never had a problem in winter and I went to sky all winter long on roads, not many drivers were daring.

You know what would also help in the snow? If you had one of the splitters added to your front bumper. It can serve as a snow plow.

The tire people really don't want to remove the run flats and put them back on in spring, and I'm not crazy about bad looking aftermarket wheels, so what to do? park it and drive the suburban when it's slippery, or steal my wife's 530XI with snows. Any great suggestions?

pick up a set of used 138s (the stock 17" wheel on 530s - note you MUST get off a regular 530 and not a xi - the xi has a different off set). Order some 17" Dunlop M3s or if you really want to get through the tough stuff, Blizzak WS50s. Have them mounted and then switch them in the spring/fall. If you order the tires through someone like discount tire, they will do the switch for you gratis every time.

You must have wrong tyres
