as promised....
Once again I get it into with cars I have no business messing with. I was heading east on the Northern state pkwy around exit 23 It was a little past noon crusing about 80 and I spotted an 911 Carrera S. I pulled up next to him still in normal mode (no Sport and DSC on). I hear him shift down two gears and he rips it. I follow suit. I figured it would be alot closer than it actually was. He has 355hp I have 360. I'll tell you at 130 he starts pulling away. I was surprised at the distance he put between us.
We slow down around exit 25 because of lap traffic. I thought a bit off a little to much to chew! A Toyota Matrix try to get into the mix. He zoom past both of us. What the #%*. So we both gave him a dose of real power and took of for the exit. Once on the local roads we eased up a little bit...just a little bit.lol
I guess it wouldn't register as a kill..at least for me. lol

Hehe of course... a E 55 AMG or CLS 55 AMG can beat a M5 off the line not to mention a 550. But good try anyways... its always nice to have a comparison to see how much faster the competition is.
Really? Even if I use launch control?

I can't speak for Europe, but in the U.S. the performance of a car is often limited by its driver.
To corner and brake near a performance car's given limits requires some skill and some serious 'attachments'. But now that all wheel drive, stability control and launch control are becoming more commonplace, maximum acceleration in a straight line requires no more driving skill than that possessed by your common circus monkey.
I don't dispute the raw power of the forcefed mercedes engines or the high rpm frenzy of an M5/M6, but I do question the abilities of their 'stereotypical' oweners to expolit those attributes on anything but a straight stretch of open road.....

I completely agree! It's who's got more "juevos" if it's a road race around other cars and winding freeways, i.e. the Pasadena 110 Fwy. in California...the oldest, narrowest, "windingest" fwy (in Calif. I think), which is so fun to drive fast - knowing your limits. Many Porsches and even motorcycles have been beaten - only because they dared not squeeze in-and-out of cars like some of us, (or I), would! And I'll admit, I've been smoked by bigger juevos than mine!
