I read this in another forum and thought I would pass the word along.
As of today, January 1, 2005, vehicles 6 years old or less do not require the California biennial smog checks.
In addition, as of today, vehicles 4 years old or less no longer require a smog check for change of ownership or transfer of title.
Beginning April 1, 2005, the 30 - year rolling exemption will be repealed. Instead, vehicles 1975 model ? year and older will be exempt. Therefore, 1976 model ? year and newer vehicles will continue to be subject to biennial inspection indefinitely.

State Operations. Would, commencing January 1, 2005, expand the model-year smog check exemption to include motor vehicles 6 or less model-years old, unless ARB determines that including the 5th and 6th model-year vehicles in the exemption would prohibit the state from meeting the requirements of the federal Clean Air Act. Would re-impose the pre-SB 1107 $6 annual smog abatement fee until 01/01/05, after which time the SB 1107 $12 fee (Moyer) would be imposed.

I have a question here :winkcool:
what should I do if I have aftermarketINTAKE and EXHAUST? :'(
I mean..its no problem if I put it on a new car..
but when my car gets older and need to do smog check!..
what should i do? Take them off and put the OEM parts back!?
