Hi Folks,
I'm risking a "RTFM" response here; however, I DID read the manual, so please help. Also, when I try and do a *search* on "SMG" I get "sorry less than 4 letters on the search". Searching under "Sequential Manual Gearbox" comes up with everything but what I was looking for.
So my question/situation:
With SMG, I'm stopped on a hill. Do I:
1) Shift to "N", step on the brake and apply hand brake?
2) Leave gear in whatever it was in, step on brake and apply hand brake?
I found the thread on "Don't be an idiot and keep pressing on the gas because this will burn up the clutch."
Thanks in advance for any advice you can share.
Cheers,
Tony

You do not need to shift to N.
When you are in gear, but not moving... the car is effectively holding the "clutch pedal" for you. You can hold the brake pedal if you want, or use the hand brake instead.
The key is... when you decide to go... just press the gas pedal quickly and go... don't be gentle and try to make a slow, smooth start.

Thanks for the clarification, subterFuse!
I guess with the DSC+ features, like "hill holder", it'll help those who aren't too quick on the gas pedal.
Getting on the gas when it's "go" won't be a problem for me though.
Thanks again!

Ya if you're stop on a hill either use the hand brake technique to prevent the car from rolling back or use left foot braking and start off that way.
When parked leave it in gear and pull the hand brake.
