What described in his post happens to my car right now. I`m trying to find out what was the cause. I`m sure he fixed the problem since it happened in 2007.
My car 2004 530i SMG transmission stuck in N.
I wanted to change the transmission but now that i saw his post. No good shop to deal with SMG transmissions in BC. Every shop i call, as soon as i mention "SMG" they almost tell me to ....yeah.
Please help!

im 90% sure you need a new SMG pump....can be quite costly. id contact a indy shop who specialized in these type of cars...try one that works on E46 M3s as the SMG systems are not worlds apart...

I changed the salmon and orange relays yesterday. Right now i can get the car in 1st gear but when i press the gas the car goes backwards. If i try R, i can hear something working under the car, like is trying to get into gear but for some reason it skips. I dont know how to explain that.
When i open and close the car etc i can hear the SMG pump working fine. The shop i went to is an indy shop that works on all kind of BMW. At first they said the same thing, pump or position sensor. Than they called me saying that i need a new tranny.
codes 4f74 and 4f75
Next week i will try to repair a small leak from the slave cylinder. Hope that fixes the problem.
