Does Hobi know if we need to replace the ECU when we go with SSG paddle? My plan is replacing the current std wheel with the sport one and retrofit the SSG paddle w/ push/pull capability.

I can't answer 100% for Hobi though I can say that if he was able to have th M5 paddles work it shouldnt be hard to mod the wiring for the standard paddles. If you do not have the sport wheel you will need to buy a new wheel and airbag. Lot's of money. He did not change his ECU when he modded his car so you should be safe.

Will this accomplish anything if you do not have SMG?

I think you can get the SMG paddles to shift the steptronic...

It's quite pricey, heh! I think I just wait for another year to get a fully loaded 545 SMG like Mr. Ice.

It will shift the steptronic but it is not cost effective in anyway unless you already have a sport steering wheel. Those airbags are not cheap.

If you have a regular steering wheel you need the airbag too, but if you have the sports steering wheel, you just need a new rim, the one for SMG cars. Airbag is the same then.

That is correct.

My shifter finally came in. Will take pics. There may be some work going on though. It appears the leather boot is attached to the knob. Will see soon.
