Ok, so I know I am going to get a lot of "try searching for it", but I could not find the answer. Many of you SMG owners have 550 or 545, but what about us little 530I's?? How do I use launch assist? Its been 3 months and I finally finished my break in period, I have to say that the sport button mode is way better than the regular mode in my 530i SMG. Another question i have is if the SMg in the 530, 545 and 550 are all the same?? Thanks guys for the responses and I know I am going to get a lot of them.

For Launch / Acceeration Assist:
Place in Sport Mode
Turn DSC/DTC all the way off (hold button in for 3+ seconds)
Stomp on the gas pedal down to the floor - do not lift up.
Hold on!

Yeah, what he said. Also, do not attempt back-to-back launches. Wait a few minutes before attempting another launch. I learned that the hard way. I took my car in for servicing and they had to reset the AA. A good rule of thumb is to wait 10 minutes. That will give you plenty of time.

Don't race from a dig. You'll lose precious time. When you stomp down on the throttle, you're not going to instantly move. The car's going to rev up to 4500 rpm before dumping the clutch. By the time the clutch is dumped your adversary would have quite a head start.
Best tranny to do traffic light runs are Steps or 6-speed. Too bad you live in Texas, the Socal e60ers are having another Launch Meet this weekend.
If you're going to race, better to do it from a roll with the SMGs.

The car will shift for you in either manual or auto mode. The sifting though is fastest in manual mode.

Thats like saying don't race from a dig with a manual, by the time you press the clutch in- hit the gas- and let the clutch out again the guy in the Steptronic will be gone already. If you know how to drive an SMG with AA you can easily time when you hit the gas for the desired timing.
It'd be great if somebody could get a rough time between STOMP and GO.
