I can tell you this the 530 i drove on the track, and the one[man. trans.] i have here is quicker than a E39, and handling is ALOT better.

The H-SMG is trans. not a bolt on kit, they will have to make a larger one for the 545, as for HUD that is what they told me a month ago. Things do change fast like i said marketing!
I see. Maybe things need to be rearranged because the V8 takes up more space. If 545i will not have SMG, I may need to rethink about what model I want. 530i with SMG, or 545i with manual or automatic. This is going to be a tough one.

Is this info regarding projected delively dates accurate ??? No 545i until Feb or March 2004 !!! This is almost halfway into the traditional car cycle in the US.

That would seem to be terrible planning. As I will be leasing, and must return my present vehicle at end of November this alone might force me to look elsewhere even though my heart has been set on this model....

Yes, it is unfortunate that they will not be selling the 545 out of the gate first as that car would be a great revenue maker for BMW NA and the dealers. It kind of took me by surprise actually because a)They have the body and b)they have the engine. Maybe they're a little late with the tranny development/testing???

On the other hand, if you still haven't signed up for your BMW CCA membership and you're in the market for a 545, NOW is the time to sign up to take advantage of whatever rebate they will have available on the E60 next year.
