There are probably no 545iSMG cars out yet. I was never able to get one to test, so I decided to go with auto. A perfect setup for the 545 IMO.
The SMG in the E60 will be a slow shifter what I?ve heard. Just like in the Z4 and E46. Nothing at all like in the E46 M3.

As for the ACC - just love it. It?s a relaxing tool. Just set the speed and cruise along without having to intervene with brakes and resetting of the cruise control.
Another nice feature is when you approach a speed limit zone. You flip the lever a couple of times and the car very quickly reduces speed to your set value ( with braking if necessary ). Sves you from speeding tickets! Only setback with the system is that it can sense a car in the inner lane sometimes and decelerate when you actually want to accelerate.
But then you just push the accelerator and off you go again.
