Hey fellas,
My friend just bought 04 525i. he got some problem with the air conditioning. He said the air conditioning works well, but the air
is smelly. and it's especially when the first few minutes he turned it on. he asked me whether I know how to get rid of the smell.
Unfortunately, I have no idea about it . he also said that he's turned on the button for the inside air only and he has also
put a car perfume in his car. but it doesn't help much.
Anyone have any idea how to get rid of the smell? Thanx Guys..

I had same problem with my 04 530i. Dealer flushed ventilation system no charge. Advised not to keep system on recirculating for extended periods as this contibutes to the problem
Anyway, I'd like to welcome you to this forum
Thanks for the input

My Ride: 2005 545i step, nav, sport, 166 wheels, premium sound, don't need nothin' else.
Yes. Rudy's first link will lead you to the bulletin for Wynn's Aircomatic. I had the same problem with my 04 530. Dealer can do it for you under warranty if vehicle still is. Good Luck

My AC has a smell during the summer, but in the winter its not there cuz im using the heater. its mildew thats built up. just blast ur heater for a few minutes and see if it dries all that dew in the ac and gets rid of the smell

If you get in the habit of turning off the compressor (snowflake button) a couple of minutes before shut down you will not get the odor because the moisture will be blown off the evaporator and therefore no accumulation of bacteria because of the dry coil.

Hey guys,
We went to the dealership yesterday to get the car checked. And the dealer said it is a common problem for every car in
northwest. There are two ways to get rid of this smell: 1. pay 250 bucks to get the ventilation cleaned by the BMW Seattle.
2. We can spray the air conditioning fan w/ something and this way is much cheaper. I think the name of the
spray things is friggie fresh.. so, I think the 2nd one is better..
