Hi all. I have a smell like something is burnt when driving fast or accelerate hard for some time. The smell quickly disappear when I drop the speed. There is no smell in idle or if I drive with normal speed. What might be the probelm? Thanks.

Hot oil, warm tires, dead flys and mosqitoes.

It is hard to tell just for what you described but one good recommendation is to stop immediately after you detect the smell or burn and look out for the origin of the smell. Chances are the you are going to find the root cause of the smell since it would be still there or at least it is going to direct you to the area in trouble. GL

It's not a problem. What you describe is completely normal.

maybe you have a loose or popped-off crankcase ventilation hose. check all your hoses to see if one is loose or off.

  1. There are known oil leak problems on some V-8 models. The oil may not be readily apparent by staining until the leaks are quite large. Do you experience any unusual oil consumption?
  2. Cooling system leaks are sometimes first detected by a sweet smell when some coolant hit hot engine parts. At low speed the smell might not be apparent. How is your coolant level?
  3. Sometimes water and road grime coats the exhaust system and will burn off under hard driving but not as noticeable at low speeds. A good under-car wash might be in order if 1 & 2 are not the problem.
Well those are my 3 thoughts ...

OH - forgot one ... any small animals reported missing in your neighborhood
