:'( hey guys my new 530 xi just got hit it in the parking lot yesterday. Anyways now there is a small ding in the lower part of the rear bumper and it is noticable because of the way it bends the light, anyways i was wondering if this is a small repair or a huge one and if anybody has had similar experiences fixing such a ding, anyways i live in philadelphia area. Thanks in advance!

If it is in the bottom part of the bumper, the dentless ding remover technique won't work.

The bumper is plastic, no PDR can remove that. They can only remove dings off of sheet metal. You sure it's a ding on the bumper? I find that kind of odd.

I have the same thing. It is very minor. It is the sort that only the owner would notice.

I put a rather large punt in my rear bumper after a stupid mistake. The BMW dealer here wanted around $1750 to replace it. I about fell over with surprise. So I checked around and found that there are numerous places that repair a plastic bumper by heating it slightly and massaging the dent to minimize it and then filling it with a soft flexible putty. They then sand it, prime it and paint it with PPG color and clear coat. It is all done in a few hours. It is guarnteed as long as you own the car. I had this done to my bumper which looks good as new. Total cost: $350. Total savings: $1400. Check for one of these places near you and then ask to see some examples of their work.

ahhh every body shop i went to in town said that sanding the bumper and painting it wont look as good as new, the only way to make it look perfect again is by putting on a brand new bumper. i'm paying $895 to do this, yet it seems pointless because the ding is sooo small, but i've only had the car for one week so its annoying. AHHH dont park your cars in parking lots!!! lol

I am suspicious of their motives. $895 is a lot more income for them than $350. Take a look at these sites:
http://www.denttime.com/bumper_repair.htm
http://autorecon.com/bumper-repair.htm
http://www.bumperdoc.com/

High-end car owners are getting their cars fixed at these places. When I took mine in I saw Lexus, BMW, and Mercs.
