My Ride: Jet Black '05 545i, Sport/Premium Pkg, Steptronic, Adaptive Xenon, Nav, L7, Blue2th, PDC,
Drive in DS and drive it like you stole it. Mine took about a days worth of spirited driving before my hardshifts diminished. Good luck

Good to know. I was wondering if pushing aggressively would help. I did last night...shifting steptronic and with automatic. There were a few times at high revs where it didn’t slam. It seems to be at lower speeds. Overall, all gear shifting seems to be much smoother than before (except for this issue).

tonite when i was using the M1 to M4 ,,all good I SHIFT change it at about 6500rpms but when i shift to M5 from M4 at 6500 rmp still good...BUT WHEN i change the last gear to M6..i feel like a slam under the car..and then..bang..the TRANSMISION MULFUNCTION appear. plus...looks like after the message pop on....the drive is like in gear d2 or d3...because once u get over 40-45 mi/hour...the rpm wont lower...they goo 3k and over...

Since you're getting an error code, service should be able to know exactly what is wrong.
My problem doesn't have an error code at all

I had a problem on mine where if I was merging on the highway and the transmission went from 5th to 4th while I was accelerating very hard it would go to 'transmission malfunction' message. New solenoids fixed mine. I have driven 30K miles since replacing them and not a single error since. It is smoother shifting now than it has ever been (207K miles!)
I do not think replacing fluid will fix your issue
You need to get the codes pulled for your error first. New solenoids will fix a LOT of issues with these transmissions. Need the code first though to get an idea of the issue.

As ncsugrad2006 suggested, I started reading up on the possibility of the guibo going bad.
The slam always happens from downshifting 3rd to 2nd. I can also duplicate the problem sometimes downshifting from 6th to 3rd.
I’ve never any problems downshifting from 4th to 3rd so this makes me think it’s not the transmission.

I just wanted to send an update.
The slam from 3rd to 2nd has mysteriously disappeared this morning! I haven’t been able to reproduce any slam in any gear.
It appears that whatever was causing the issue may be in the transmission fluid pan.
Could it come back up through the transmission again or will the filter catch it?
