Not sure if someone did this in the car park at work or I backed into a hedge or similar but I have a slight but noticable scratch (5-6cm long) on my silver grey E60 rear bumper...

Any advise how best to get rid of or repair it? Thanks!!

The depth of the scratch determines how to approach the repair. If the scratch is down to the primer or metal, you will need to use touch-up paint. If it is a light surface scratch, you can use polishing compound or, more extreme, rubbing compound. Be careful to use sparingly directly over the scratch. If you use rubbing compound, follow up with polishing compound. Always finish up with wax. Remember that the clear-coat will be removed over the area that is abraded down to the scratch level so do not deviate much from the scratch area.

You should try definitely "scratch-out" in the yellow bottle, first. I believe it is a Kit product. It can have magical results with virtually no surface penetration. If that does not work try the polishing compound with a q-tip. Rubbing compound on the "plastic" bumper is a no-no. You will go right through the finish.

Thanks for the suggestions - scratch is not deep into primer or metal so will try the scratch out/polishing product. Will let you know how it goes.

Rizbel, I did come across Quixx but have a look at this report...

If you've tried it though, let us know how it is - thanks.
