So I am nearing 90k miles and will be changing plugs, brake fluid and oil. I am wondering if I should do o2 sensors as well. My car is bogging down every 5-6 seconds when maintaining a constant speed and throttle. In other words, if I am travelling at 45mph and maintaining a constant throttle (not flooring it and not off it), it is hesitating every 5-6 seconds. If I floor it its fine and if I am coasting its fine. Doesn't seem to do it at higher rpm's (over 2k). It reminds me of when my Jeep needed o2 sensors... Haven't checked for codes and no error messages are coming up on the idrive or dash. Have any of you experienced this and was it plugs or o2 sensors?

Thanks in advance,
J

Don't watch football LOL. Just saw post. Anyway I've had a very similar type of thing happen more than once but with much older cars, I'm talking like 20 years ago. Anyway both times it turned out to be a fouled plug of some kind. If you're changing plugs anyway just see how it runs after you change them, then if it isn't improved look into the O2's.

Yeah, the more I think about it, I am pretty sure an o2 sensor would shoot some kind of error message. Maybe not, but even in the Jeep the CEL went on. Hoping its just a fouled plug.

Since I am nearing 100k, is there any other service that I should think of? A friend of mine is a BMW Tech and does this after hours at his house after hours so I do save some money...

After 100k miles I had the "lifetime" manual tranmission and differential fluids changed... just seemed like the thing to do, as I was not experiencing any problems. At 125k+ the water pump was getting flaky and had to be replaced, and the drive shaft carrier bearing mount and giubo needed replacing as well, so those might be some things to get checked.

I had the water pump done at 75k. I have heard horror stories about people having no tranny issues until they changed fluids... will have to think about that one..

I've heard that about transmissions, too, but generally I think it happens to automatics...

Just a quick update... got the brake fluid change, oil change and new plugs... none of the plugs were particularly fouled but I can say happily that the hesitation is gone and she flies again. I wonder what all that would have cost me at the stealership!

Thanks for the suggestions...

Did you change your air-filter as well? I know when I changed mine to the BMC's I noticed a slight improvement with throttle response.
