Can anybody help me out here to understand if there is a Germany/Europe Sat. broadcast that the system will pick up? I ordered the Sirius Sat with my car. I questioned the sales rep. (Tony) at the time and told him I knew that Sirius is only broadcast in the US. I asked if there were other Sat broadcasts the system would pick up in Germany. Tony, said, "oh yes John" all over Germany we get Sat broadcast. I went back to the original question how will the Sirius system work over here will others be able to use that same system. Again, "all over Germany we receive Sat broadcasts in our cars." I went back to the question using the Sat receiver I will have in the car. "Oh yes John!" So, please help me to understand how this will work. Thanks inadvance

This makes no sense. I'm not sure why they would even sell a Sat receiver in Germany as the only two Sat Radio companies (Sirus and XM) are only available in the US.

I am a US civilian working for the US Govt. so we are able to purchase US spec cars here then when we come home we either use a private shipper or through BMW. Tony is a pretty good guy he just jumps to confussion instead of conclusions sometimes. He speaks Italian, German, English and some Spanish. He tries to understand really fast and sometimes allows himself to become confussed.
I knew the two systems in the US so I asked about what was in Germany, some how I think it was lost in translation. Thanks again.

Basically, a license is being acquired in Europe. Once the license is acquired they will start setting up the sat radio. I believe Europe and South America is all that is left. SA has already acquired a license for Sat Radio.

Do they also give you the option to buy and European spec car? could you buy the Euro spec and then bring it back to the US or is there any law that prohibits that? Just curious
No law as far as I know for the actual purchase. Some major blocks. 16% sales tax (that is what the Germans have to pay) then the problem of having it converted to US spec and posting the pollution bond for non-US cars that have been converted. We have been going over this with my wife's SL (she did not want a V8 so she got a 6 that is not imported to the states) then you have the problem of parts you have to import to the states if there is a problem. I hope this helps.
Thank you again. I emailed Sirius this past week. The responded with no plans for Europe at this time. Is the module in the car a specific bandwidth/frequency for only Sirius or is it used by other Sat. providers here.
