I have read the manual and can't find the answer. Have searched here as well without success.... Is there a way to show POI's like gas stations etc on the navigation screen? I know we can search for POI's but it would be nice in an unfamiliar area to see things like gas stations...

When you enter in the point of interest in the navigation (say, gas station), it should begin showing up as points of interest in the map display (either the small square (if selected to show map view) or the rectangle if you roll down and choose map view in the navigation menu).

Thanks! And welcome to the forum. So I can type in something as generic as gas stations and they'll show up? I got the impression from reading the manual that searching was for a particular place, say by name... I'll do some more experimenting tomorrow.

To clarify, once you search for a type of POI, it puts icons on the map for all POI of that type, IE knife & fork for all restaurants or gas pumps for all gas stations, etc. Bad news, there are no attached names nor no way to click and determine what the icons refer to. Its not real useful.

how about if you want to find a dealership other then BMW, lets say Cadilac or Lexus. I know you can find BMW under Car and Travel POI, I could not find Lexus dealer yesterday on idrive, how do I do it?? BMW should have an option of searching for anything just by name, without going to submenus and trying to figure out what submenu your destination belongs to. Please help me find Cadilac lets say, on idrive, if I decide to go and lets say want to try to test drive an Escalade or find Kinkos to make some copies, how do I find it on Idrive??
