Hello,

After owning my 2006 520d for 6 months I am tempted to get something more powerful like a 535d. I have seen a 2005 model for ?18,500 with Dakota black leather seats, electric glass sunroof, auto-dim/electric folding mirrors, electric front seats/driver seat memory, through-loading system, front seat heating, headlamp washer system, Bi-Xenon adaptive headlights, extended interior lighting package, BMW Navigation Professional system, Bluetooth phone prep, BMW 6-CD autochanger, Hi-Fi Professional Logic, visibility package, media package.

My 520d has been remapped, half-leather, 5 months warranty remaining, carbon black, 23000 miles.

Both cars are M Sport with 18" MV2 alloys and run flats.

Is the 535d a good price? What do you think my 520d is worth?

Hmmm let me think, a 520D or a 535D..... its a tough one....

535D would win for me.

Regarding the whats its worth question, have a look on the parkers site for both cars then check autotrader for similar spec'd cars. If you do go for the 535D, you might want to check if it has inlet swirl flaps if it does i get them removed and fit blanking plates.

I'd love a 535D.

If it makes any difference the car is being sold privately and has 50k on the clock

I did expect the majority to say go for it but I more concerned about it not having any warranty and potential problems may be costly. I know with my 520d it is in very good shape, has a low mileage, was looked after By the previous owner and still has warranty. Does anyone know if the 535d has any common issues and would it be too big a risk buyin this privately with no warranty. Also anything I need to look for with the 535d?

I dunno how you Europeans do with diesel-powered versions of our cars. I'm sure it has its pros, but clearly you guys bought BMWs for the same reasons we did, not to save money on gas. Or atleast not that much where you sacrifice power.

I would say get the 535d, they did a segment on it a while back on Top Gear and it didn't sound like a diesel at all. Go for it.

Get the 535

If the lack of warranty bothers you, you can purchase one from loads of companies on the net for a few hundred ?'s.

Its only like an insurance policy on the major bits of your car,

Most dealers use a third party company when they issue warranty.
