What d'ya mean by "Old mechanical gear"? 6-spd manual? I got the 6-spd in my 550 cause I like to row gears myself without any computer aiding me and I love to give my left foot some exercise

I hear the new transmission is a joy though. I am not worried about getting stuck in traffic because the clutch pedal is so light and most of the time I can get the car moving in such situations by slowly releasing the clutch alone. If driving stick on a daily basis bothers you then get the new trans.

You don't get a choice.

If you buy a facelifted model you get the new transmission, which from most reports is much better.

my country will have the facelift soon, but old model still available with less price. If there is no distinctive different, i may go for the old one.

The quality of the transmission is improved a lot apparently on the LCI model, as is fuel comsumption.

Depreciation on the old model will also be higher.

Unless you can get a very good discount (20%) go for the LCI

you wont see any difference. its still an auto. to see a difference you need the sport auto for the faster shifting.

The new transmission is all electronic - meaning you press the P button to park, and you click the shifter up or down a notch to move between R, N and D. You don't move the shifter through actual slots or gates like old automatics anymore. It might feel a bit weird at first.
